Portmore United, promoted this season, have climbed atop the standings of the Red Stripe Premier League with 27 points following their latest victory over parish rivals Rivoli United.

The win, a 3-2 effort at Drax Hall in St Ann, was Portmore's eighth in 12 games and gives them a comfortable two-point lead over Montego Bay United, who were unable to capitalise on their home advantage and were held to a 0-0 draw by UWI at Wespow Park.

Montego Bay United are now on 25 points while UWI, who won their first game of the round, moved to 13 points in 10th position.

Arnett Gardens moved to 23 points following a 2-0 win over Cavalier, who remained on 13 points.

Tivoli Gardens moved into fifth in the standings with 18 points following their 3-2 derby victory over west Kingston rivals Boys' Town, who are now on 15 points.

Junior Flemmings, who scored the winner in the 81st minute, goes to the United States on scholarship in January and said that he would use what he has learnt in Jamaica to take him ahead.

"Being around the professionals in the national team, I really learnt a lot, especially from the ones overseas, and I said that I have to transfer that mental aspect to my game and my approach to life. I am getting there. I just have to keep working hard," he said.

Flemmings hopes to have scored eight goals before he leaves for his studies and is only two goals away from his target.

"It is not easy to leave schoolboy football and come into the Premier League playing against bigger, stronger guys with more experience, but I came here and worked and left the rest to god, and game by game, I will continue to work hard and, hopefully, the goals will come," he said.

Waterhouse earned a point from their draw with Reno to move to 12 points in 11th spot.

The defeat to Portmore meant Rivoli United slid to the bottom of the table on 11 points.
