Coach’s car stolen at Champs
Clarendon College head coach, Davion Chantiloupe, was left reeling after his motor vehicle was stolen from the National Stadium car park on Wednesday -- a theft that has struck at the heart of his personal life.
The incident comes just days after Chantiloupe welcomed a newborn baby, making the ordeal even more harrowing.
"I parked my car in the National Stadium car park on Wednesday around 2:40 p.m. When I came back in the night about 20 minutes after nine, I didn't see my car," he said.
The stolen vehicle is a pearl white Toyota Wish bearing licence plate number 9930LL.
"I am telling you the truth, this is really taking a toll on me, and I am trying not to make it spill over on the kids, especially at a time like this because over the weekend I welcomed a new member to my family, a newborn baby who is just four days old now," Chantiloupe said. "For something like this to happen, it is really stressing."
The theft cast a dark shadow over what should have been a triumphant day for Clarendon College, which celebrated a stellar showing at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships, winning two gold medals and a bronze.
"It was a bittersweet day," Chantiloupe added. "For this to happen on the day when we got three medals, and just when I thought things were lightening up, it has really put a damper on me."
Already juggling the intense pressures of coaching and family life, Chantiloupe said the theft has left him overwhelmed.
"This is really tough for me because I have never had to deal with anything like this before, especially in this stressful time. I had a tough weekend managing my personal life and also managing the team, so it was really hard coming here," he said.
Chantiloupe is now making a desperate plea for help, urging the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the recovery of his vehicle.
"I am appealing to anyone out there who can help me to locate it, please do, because I have a lot of personal items inside the vehicle as well," he said.
The matter has been reported to the police.
