Musician among two men charged following gun seizure during Maxfield Avenue traffic stop
Nineteen-year-old musician O.J. Style, otherwise called 'Zion,' and 18-year-old Aaron Tyrell, otherwise called 'Tavi,' both of August Town addresses, have been charged following the alleged seizure of a firearm by police during a traffic stop along Maxfield Avenue.
They are charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and unauthorised possession of ammunition.
The incident occurred on Saturday, January 31.
Reports from the Denham Town police indicate that about 9:40 p.m., a team of officers was on mobile patrol when they signalled the driver of a white Toyota Isis to stop. The driver complied.
According to the police, members of the team observed Style throwing a bag to the rear of the vehicle. The bag was retrieved and found to contain a 9mm Taurus pistol with an affixed magazine containing six 9mm cartridges.
Police further reported that Tyrell later gave voluntary access to his mobile phone, and both men were seen in several photographs handling the same firearm.
The firearm was seized, and both men were taken into custody. They were later charged following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of their attorney.
A court date is being finalised.
